Mooneyes Open House ’26

July 2026 • By Tony Thacker

In this weirdly fractured world we inhabit it’s refreshing to attend the annual Mooneyes Open House that is free to all comers. Owners Shige Suganuma and Chico Kadoma who saved the ailing brand in 1992 welcome anybody and anything and you can see everything from scooters to choppers, customs to hot rods. If you’re near Los Angeles in July it’s definitely worth the visit even if it is kinda krazy krowded.

With Carroll Shelby looking on, a small crew assemble the very first Cobra at Dean Moon’s shop in 1962.

Located at the original Mooneyes’ Santa Fe Springs, CA location where Carroll Shelby had Moon’s men assemble the very first Cobra in 1962, the ground is hallowed and worth a visit for that alone. You can also get to tour the Moon workshops where they still build Moon products on the same machines they did in the fifties.

The Moon men always put on a great show and their next two big events are:

Christmas Party Show & Drag, Saturday, December 12th, 2026, at the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, Pomona, California

34th Annual Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show on Sunday, December 6, 2026, at Pacifico Yokohama, Japan.
